She’Koyokh’s eagerly-awaited third album, Wild Goats and Unmarried Women, will be released by World Music Network’s Riverboat Records on 24th March. The album launch concert will be held at The Forge on 27th March.
On Wild Goats and Unmarried Women She’Koyokh deliver an expertly crafted, multi-lingual exploration of music from the Baltic to the Black Sea. Each song has a story to tell, whether it’s about the wild goats on the rocky mountains of Southern Turkey or a squabble between Jewish mothers-in-law over a dowry. There’s a Soviet-Jewish song about lemons and a plea for Death to stay away when a disease strikes a village in Northern Greece. Also, love songs about beautiful Bosnian men and unmarried Kurdish brunettes, as well as klezmer instrumentals and folk dances from Bulgaria, Romania and Serbia.
Wild Goats & Unmarried Women takes you on a true klezmer odyssey, with She’Koyokh delivering a classic album that combines the zest of their live performance with the virtuosity and intelligence of their musicianship.
