Fantastic Reviews for Thebans at English National Opera with Guest Chorus Master Dominic Peckham

The reviews have been flooding in for the world première of Thebans, a brand new English National Opera commission by composer Julian Anderson and writer Frank McGuinness, featuring Guest Chorus Master Dominic Peckham, marking his début with ENO.

Critics have hailed the have hailed the production as a ‘must see’ (Mark Ronan) and have particularly praised Peckham and the Chorus of the ENO, saying that ‘the chorus do… themselves and the composer proud’ (The Stage). Bachtrack praised the Chorus for their ‘immense levels of intensity’ and the New York Times applauded the ‘powerful chorus’. Boulezian writes ‘Dominic Peckham’s choral training clearly pays off’.

Robert Hugill gave the production 5*, with The Guardian giving 4* and saying the ‘choral forces [were] superbly prepared’. Other 4* reviews include The Independent and What’s On Stage.

Thebans is running at The Coliseum until 3rd June 2014.
