On Friday 16 January Peter Donohoe will perform the Philadelphia premiere of Copland’s Piano Concerto after nearly 88 years to the day after its debut in Boston.
Aaron Copland wrote his jazz-inspired Piano Concerto in 1926 and premiered the work in Boston, New York, Los Angeles, Mexico and Chile – but he never played it in Philadelphia.
Peter will perform the concerto at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, accompanied by the Ama Deus Ensemble and conducted by Valentin Radu.
Peter’s programme will also include Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue and Piano Concerto in F.
