Stile Antico have just returned from a tour of the USA, having received rave reviews for their concerts.
The group battled the freezing cold weather to tour their programmes ‘In Pace: Music for Compline’ and ‘From the Imperial Court’ to Durham, NC, Davidson, NC, Washington DC, Kansas City, MO, New York City, Boston, Miami and Columbus, OH, and they also led workshops for students in Washington DC and Columbus, OH. As always, they documented the highs and lows of touring life in their ever popular tour blog.
Here’s what some of the critics had to say about their concerts:
‘the group again is at its vital best. The singing creates a glorious sonic tapestry , but the depth of collective musicianship reminds you that these works, even those aimed at flattering the powerful, are not merely a beautiful sound but something akin to living organisms.’ The Boston Globe
‘It is a real privilege to hear them live. In fact, I would argue it is crucial to hear them live… Being in the same room as these singers… reveals their process, and their pure love for and joy in this repertoire… Stile Antico is a must-hear’ The Boston Musical Intelligencer
‘the musicians made a persuasive case of them… with their full yet balanced sound, flawless intonation and sensitive approach to text.’ The Washington Post
‘their performance was elegant, nuanced, and thoughtful… their consummate musicianship and obvious collaboration made them a joy to listen to and watch’ KCMetropolis
‘a vivid demonstration of Stile Antico’s variety of tonal hues and sheer vocal power’ South Florida Classical Review
