In 1982, Peter Donohoe had success as the joint winner of the International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow.

Since then he has returned to the competition several times as a jury member, and this year he has been invited to Moscow once more to adjudicate alongside prominent musicians from around the world including Dmitri Bashkirov, Barry Douglas, Vladimir Feltsman and Michel Beroff.

Since its inception in 1958, the International Tchaikovsky Competition has become widely recognised as one of the most prestigious classical competitions in the world. It is held every four years in Moscow and St Petersburg for outstanding young pianists, violinists, and cellists and singers.

Снимок-экрана-2015-05-12-в-11.20.55For the last half century the competition has accurately picked out some of the world’s greatest classical stars and has launched the careers of many musicians who have gone on to international fame.

 

This year’s competition runs from 15 June- 3 July 2015. The competition receives a huge amount of worldwide press attention and it is being streamed live on Medici TV.
