March 4th is World Book Day and amongst the new releases is Zeb Soanes new book Gaspard’s Foxtrot – the latest in the popular Gaspard the Fox series, published by Graffeg. Jonathan Dove has teamed up with Zeb to write a 30-minute concert work for narrator and orchestra also called Gaspard’s Foxtrot that will be premiered this year by the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. The co-commissioners with RSNO are the Philharmonia Orchestra, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Docklands Sinfonia and 3 Choirs Festival. The Philharmonia will record the new piece in the early summer with Zeb – “One of the loveliest, most characterful voices on British radio.” (Gramophone Magazine) – narrating.
